The Settings section allows users to customize their desktop softphone experience, including audio devices, presence behavior, and emergency calling preferences.
This area is essential for ensuring proper call handling and device integration.
Table of contents
General

This tab controls language, region, startup behavior, and display/sleep preferences.
- Region: Select either Default or Live (North America) depending on your deployment.
- Language: Choose between English (US) and English (UK).
- Startup/Shutdown Options
- Launch Connect when system starts: Automatically starts the softphone when your computer powers on.
- Prompt for softphone on startup: Displays the softphone mode prompt each time the app opens.
- Set presence on exit: Automatically updates your availability status when closing the app.
- Set presence on lock: Automatically restores your previous presence status when unlocking your device.
- Display & Sleep Control
- While on a call: Prevents the screen from turning off or the system from sleeping during a live call.
- When softphone enabled: Keeps your display active when the softphone is running, even outside of a call.
Softphone
These settings apply specifically when the Desktop Softphone is running in Softphone Mode—meaning the app is actively handling calls through your computer rather than controlling an external device.
This section helps you configure call behavior and optimize network performance for stable and high-quality audio.

- Call Settings
- NAT
- DNS Servers
1. Call Settings

- Enable Call Waiting: Allows a second incoming call to ring through while you're already on a call. You can toggle this setting on or off depending on your role or workflow preferences.
2. NAT Traversal (Network Address Translation)

Choose how the softphone handles audio routing when operating behind a firewall or using a private IP address. Select the option that best fits your network environment:
- Auto-detect NAT using ICE: Automatically detects the best network path using ICE (Interactive Connectivity Establishment).
- Discover public IP address using STUN: Uses STUN protocol to determine your public IP address when behind NAT.
- Use media relay using TURN: Routes your call audio through a TURN relay server for strict NAT environments.
- None: No NAT traversal. Use this only if you're operating in a controlled network with direct connectivity.
3. DNS Server Selection
Determine how DNS (Domain Name System) servers are selected for call routing and network resolution:

- Use default DNS servers: Uses the system or network-assigned DNS settings.
- Use local DNS servers: Detects and applies DNS servers provided by your local network environment.
- User provisioned DNS servers: Applies DNS servers configured automatically through your user profile or provisioning settings.
- User manually configured DNS servers: Allows manual input of DNS server IP addresses if custom configuration is needed.
Devices

Once inside the Audio settings, configure the following:
-
Speaker – Choose the device used for call audio output.
Volume can be adjusted within the softphone.
-
Microphone – Select your preferred input device.
Adjust the microphone volume for optimal clarity.
-
Ringing Speaker – Set the device that will play your incoming call alerts.
